As a senior in the high school level, she was able to win the New Mexico state golf tournament. She was also a volleyball player who competed at the national level. The year 2003 was the year she began her studies at The University of Texas. Through her senior year she was the winner of every competition she participated in. While in her university career, she was awarded Conference USA individual champion player for the season and UTEP Female Athlete Of The Year.
